Jordan Heath, a standout in Japan’s B League, is set to leave the Kawasaki Brave Thunders after five impressive seasons. Heath, who was instrumental in securing back-to-back Emperor’s Cup titles in 2021 and 2022 and earned MVP honors in the 2021 tournament, is joining Kyoto Hannaryz for the next chapter of his career, according to sources from BasketNews.
At 33 years old, Heath has been a dominant force as a rim protector and a key player for the Brave Thunders. His departure marks the end of a significant era for the team, where he consistently demonstrated his prowess on both ends of the court.
During the 2023-24 season, the 2.08-meter tall center played 47 games, averaging 8.0 points per game with a remarkable 73.2% shooting accuracy from inside the paint. He also contributed with a 27.5% shooting rate from beyond the arc, 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.7 blocked shots per game over 28 minutes. Heath notably had seven games with four or more blocks, placing him third in the league for blocks per game.
Kyoto Hannaryz, which finished the previous season with a 17-43 record, will benefit from Heath’s defensive skills and experience. The team also features Angelo Caloiaro, a versatile player with a notable stint at Maccabi Tel Aviv, adding further depth to the roster as they aim to improve their performance this season.
