Jannik Sinner continues to hold the World No. 1 spot on the ATP Tour following his victory at the 2024 US Open, and his lead has significantly widened over the second-ranked player.
Entering the final Grand Slam of the year, Sinner was already leading the ATP Rankings by nearly 2,000 points over Novak Djokovic. However, Djokovic faced the challenge of defending 2,000 points from his title run at Flushing Meadows last year. After an unexpected third-round exit, Djokovic lost 1,900 of those points, which resulted in a significant drop in the rankings.
Though Djokovic’s fall could have seen him tumble as low as No. 6, the shifting landscape among other players has him currently at No. 4 with 5,560 points.
Sinner’s commanding position now features a substantial gap, with 11,180 points, compared to Alexander Zverev in second place with 7,075 points. Zverev, who has matched his career-high ranking of No. 2, trails Sinner by a hefty 4,105 points.
Despite an early exit in the second round, Carlos Alcaraz retains his World No. 3 ranking with 6,690 points, although he has dropped 670 points.
Just behind the top four is Daniil Medvedev, who is closely positioned to Djokovic. The former World No. 1 is only 85 points shy of Djokovic, with a total of 5,475 points.
Andrey Rublev remains steady at No. 6 with 4,645 points, while the most notable recent movement in the Top 20 is Taylor Fritz’s rise. After reaching his first Grand Slam final, Fritz earned 1,300 points and surged five spots from outside the Top 10 to No. 7, making him the highest-ranked American player.
Jack Draper, who reached his maiden Grand Slam semi-final, also saw a significant boost. He moved up five positions to make his Top-20 debut, thanks to 800 points earned from his semi-final run.
Frances Tiafoe, despite his semi-final loss, saw a positive shift in his ranking, moving up four places to No. 16, surpassing fellow American Ben Shelton, who dropped after failing to defend his semi-final points from last year.
As always, the ATP Rankings have undergone numerous changes following the major tournament, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the season as players vie for year-end positions.
